Nihongo-yoku – Hinamatsuri Edition (2-day experience)
March | Doll Festival (桃の節句)
Join us this March at Nihongo-yoku for a special two-day Hinamatsuri edition.
We’ll slow down, play, create, eat, and live Japanese together — all in a small group with an アットホーム (at-home) atmosphere.
Hinamatsuri, also known as Momo no sekku, celebrates spring, beauty, and good company. Think dolls, delicate colors, seasonal words, gentle rituals, and a touch of Heian-period mystery.
What we’ll do (participate at your own Japanese level):
• Start both days gently with Radio Taisō
• Mini games to practice Japanese — focusing on colors, including traditional ones like azuki-iro
• A soft introduction to Classical Japanese
– Reading Makura no Sōshi (「春はあけぼの」)
– Making our own spring-inspired sentences
– What is 百人一首 hyakunin isshu?
• Playful word games like
すもももももももものうち
• Making your own Hina dolls with beautiful chiyogami paper
• Cooking and eating together
– Sushi cake lunch (day 1)
– Bento lunch (day 2)
– Plus making いちご大福 (strawberry mochi)
• A Nazotoki / escape-style game set in the Heian Period
Can you stop the assassin of the emperor in time?
Included:
• Both lunches
• A Nihongo-yoku journal for notes, reflections, and playful language discoveries
This is not a class, and not a lecture.
It’s an immersive experience where language, culture, food, and play gently come together.
