Nihongo-yoku – Kodomo no Hi Edition
May | Beginner’s mind, play & gentle courage
Kodomo no Hi (Children’s Day) is not only about children.
It’s a day to wish for health, strength, and growth — and to remember the spirit of curiosity and openness we all once had.
This May at Nihongo-yoku, we celebrate Kodomo no Hi by returning to that mindset:
初心に帰る — coming back to beginner’s mind.
What we’ll experience:
• Create kabuto (samurai helmets) and koi nobori (carp streamers) to honor the season
• こいのぼりに風 — like wind in the carp streamers, let’s grow strong together
• Make and enjoy a sushi train
– while practicing Yamanote Line station names
• Mini games focusing on hiragana and katakana
• Play ひらがなじゃん (Hiragana Mahjong)
• A Nazotoki / escape-style game:
Rescue the Stolen Champion Koi!
• …and more playful surprises along the way
Included:
• Lunch during the experience
• A Nihongo-yoku journal for notes, drawings, reflections, and language discoveries
We play seriously, laugh lightly, and learn by doing — in a small group, gathered together in a warm, personal atmosphere.
All levels welcome
Limited places to keep it intimate
Come curious.
Leave a little braver — like a carp swimming upstream.
