Ikigaikan Rotterdam - A space to notice, explore and discover what becomes possible.

At Ikigaikan, you don't need to know in advance what you need.

Perhaps you're here to learn something, experience something new, or because something in your life isn't quite working. We begin where you are.

Who is it for?

Maybe you know exactly what brings you here. Maybe you don't.

You want to learn Japanese. You want to express yourself more easily in another language. You're curious about Japanese culture. Or perhaps something in your work, relationships or daily life no longer feels quite right.

Maybe everything is going well, but you notice that you're somehow stuck.

At Ikigaikan, you don't have to be able to put that into words straight away.

LEARN

We begin by noticing.

What do you notice? What's going on? What draws your attention?

Sometimes, space opens up through learning something new. Sometimes, by exploring together what matters to you. And sometimes, by stepping out of your head for a while and experiencing something.

There is no fixed destination, and no single route that works for everyone. Together, we explore what emerges and what becomes possible.

Learn through language,
culture and play.

EXPLORE

Explore what matters to you.

EXPERIENCE

Experience Mindfulness
through Japanese culture.

Who am I?

I'm Kumi.

My work takes different forms. I coach, support people in learning a language, develop playful learning experiences, and work in the world of music and culture.

I'm curious about people and what happens when we make space to notice something. When we don't have to know the answer straight away.

As a coach, it begins with listening.

As a teacher, by creating a safe and playful space where someone feels comfortable communicating.

In my work in music and culture, I look for connections: between people, ideas, music and the world beyond.

Language & Culture

Japanese and English are my native languages, and I speak Dutch at C1 level (CNaVT). I've been learning and using languages all my life and have extensive experience in language education.

Music & Organisation

As a professional musician, I've worked both on stage and behind the scenes, with experience in organisation and management within the cultural sector.

Coaching & Mindfulness

My work as a coach is grounded in my mindfulness coach training and my own experience with stress, recovery and finding balance.

Between Different Worlds

My Japanese, American and Dutch background has taught me that there is often more than one perspective.
